Jackson County Death Investigation
UPDATE (October 16, 2018)
The male decedent has been identified as Buford Evans, age 41, of Winder, GA. The official autopsy results are pending further testing.

ORIGINAL RELEASE
On October 11, 2018, at approximately 12:13 PM, a visitor at Sells Mills Park on Jackson Trail Rd in Jackson County contacted the Jackson County 911 Center and reported the discovery of a deceased body in a creek at the park. Deputies arrived at the park and verified the discovery.
The scene was secured and an investigation into the death was begun jointly by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and agents of the GBI. The investigation is currently underway.
Investigators are currently withholding the identity of the deceased pending notification of family.
The body will be transported the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur for autopsy.
