GBI Investigates Murder-Suicide in Port Wentworth
Port Wentworth, Chatham County, GA (September 1, 2018) – On Friday, August 31, 2018, at approximately 7:22 p.m., the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Port Wentworth Police Department to investigate a shooting that led to the death of two males and one female, and serious injuries to a juvenile female.
Preliminary information indicates that shortly after 7:00 p.m., Savannah-Chatham Metro Dispatch received a 911 call that a juvenile female and another individual had been shot at 103 S. Coastal Hwy., Port Wentworth, GA. Within minutes, Port Wentworth PD officers arrived at that address and located the juvenile female on the front porch of the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Once EMS began to treat her, officers cleared the residence and located Timothy Maurice Williams, 29, deceased inside the residence. Rocedric Eugene Thompson, 32, was also located within the residence deceased from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officers then located Monique Williams, 28, deceased inside a vehicle in the driveway of the property.
Preliminary information indicates that Rocedric Thompson shot and killed Monique Williams, proceeded to go inside the residence, then shot and killed Timothy Williams and seriously injured the juvenile female with multiple gunshots. It appears that Thompson then shot and killed himself in the rear of the residence.
There is nothing to indicate that there is a threat to anyone in the Port Wentworth area regarding this investigation.
Autopsies for all three deceased will be performed at the GBI crime lab in Savannah.
