Washington, GA –  On Tuesday, August 14, 2018, the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Wilkes County Comprehensive High School regarding a possible threat made against the school. School administrators had received information that two students were planning a shooting incident at the school.

Wilkes County Sheriff Mark Moore requested the assistance of the GBI with the investigation. Preliminary investigation by the GBI and Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office revealed evidence that substantiated the threat against the school. As a result, two male students, ages 14 and 15, were each charged with one felony count of Terroristic Threats and Acts. Both juveniles were taken into custody and are currently being detained at the Regional Youth Detention Center in Washington, GA.

The investigation is ongoing. Upon completion, the case will be turned over to the Toombs Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
