Conley, GA (August 13, 2018) – On Monday, August 13, 2018, the GBI was requested by the Clayton County Police Department to investigate an officer involved shooting. Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 1:10 a.m., Clayton County Police Department (CCPD) officers were dispatched to 1803 Marceau Drive in Conley regarding a fight. When officers arrived, a female attempted to flee the scene in a vehicle. The female driver backed up and struck an officer, pinning him against a marked CCPD patrol car. A CCPD officer fired at the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered approximately one mile from the scene. The female driver has not been located and has not been identified at this time. 

The injured officer has a broken leg and he is being treated at Grady Memorial Hospital. 

The GBI will continue its independent investigation. Once complete, it will be turned over to the Clayton County District Attorney for review.
