Thomson, Georgia - The body located in Thomson on Monday, May 14, 2018, has been positively identified as Daekwon Hines. Hines’ body was discovered in a wooded area off Dell Drive around 2:30 p.m. Hines had been reported missing by his family since Friday, May 11, 2018. An autopsy was performed this morning at the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur and preliminary results indicate that Hines died as a result of a gunshot wound. The manner of death has been ruled a homicide.

The investigation is being investigated by the GBI, Thomson Police Department, and the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information is asked to call the GBI at 706-595-2575, the Thomson Police Department at 706-595-2166, or the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office at 706-595-2040.
