Atlanta, GA – On Monday, April 30, 2018, the Georgia State University (GSU) Police Department requested that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) investigate an officer involved shooting that occurred at the Greyhound Station on 232 Forsyth Street SW, Atlanta, GA.

Preliminary information from Georgia State University authorities indicates that a GSU Officer was working an off-duty job providing security at the bus station.  The subject identified as William Savalas Davis, age 38, was located inside and just outside of the bus station acting erratically and harassing other patrons. The GSU officer intervened and a confrontation ensued.  Davis was not cooperative and struggled with the officer.  During the encounter, the officer sprayed Davis with pepper spray.  Davis continued to fight with the officer. The officer fired one time, striking him.  Davis continued to resist additional responding officers and EMS personnel.  Subsequently, Davis was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.

No officers were injured during this incident.

The GBI will continue its independent investigation.  Once completed, the case will be turned over to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for review.
