Jackson, GA – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the Butts County Sheriff’s Office are seeking information on the identification of skeletal remains found in a soft-sided suitcase along Interstate 75 in Butts County on December 28, 2017.

An anthropological examination found the remains to be an African American female between 19-45 years old.  The height of the unidentified female is between 5’0” and 5’8”. A well-healed fracture was found on the right leg directly at the ankle. The remains are further distinguished by a pronounced gap between the top two front teeth. 

A composite sketch of what the female may look like based upon the skull structure was completed by the GBI forensic artist (see attached).

Jackson, GA (December 28, 2017) – On Thursday, December 28, 2017 at approximately 1:45 p.m. the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was requested by the Butts County Sheriff’s Office to assist with a death investigation.

Earlier this date a motorist searching for a lost item on the side of I-75 southbound, within a few miles of exit 201, located what is believed to be human skeletal remains. The remains were in a suitcase.  It appeared that the suitcase had been at the location for some time and was not recently deposited.
