UPDATE

Savannah, GA – On Thursday, April 26, 2018, Justin Devon Stephens, 23, was arrested without incident by Agents from the GBI Statesboro Office, Officers from Savannah Police Department, and the Georgia State Patrol.  Stephens was wanted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for numerous Felony charges including Murder.  These charges stemmed from an incident that occurred at Savannah State University in August of 2015.

Savannah, GA – On Wednesday, April 25, 2018, Justin Devon Stephens, 23, was indicted by a Chatham County Grand Jury on ten (10) charges related to the murder of Christopher Starks at Savannah State University on August 27, 2015.  Those charges include Murder, Felony Murder (x2), Aggravated Assault (x2), and other related firearm offenses.

Savannah, GA – On August 27, 2015, the GBI Statesboro Regional Office was requested by the Savannah State University (SSU) Police Department to investigate the shooting death of SSU student Christopher Starks, 22. Preliminary information indicates Starks was reportedly involved in an altercation inside the Student Union where he was shot. The shooting appears to be an isolated incident. Starks was transported to Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy will be performed by the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Savannah. The investigation is ongoing and the shooter has not been identified at this time.
