Blairsville, GA – Former Union County physical education teacher Shawnetta D. Reece, 40, was arrested September 21, 2017 at her home in Blairsville, Union County, Georgia.  Reece was charged with sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority after the discovery of an additional victim in the case.  The continued investigation into Reece revealed that she engaged in sexual conduct with an 18 year old student in 2015.   The student was a high school senior at the time of the incident.

Previously, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the Union County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into Reece after receiving information she was sexually involved with a former student.  The GBI was able to determine that former middle school physical education teacher Reece, engaged in sexual conduct with a 15 year old student in 2013.  The student was moving from the 8th grade into the 9th grade during the time.  Reece was arrested for child molestation and sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority on August 14, 2017.

Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be provided to the Enotah Judicial Circuit District Attorney for prosecution.

Blairsville, GA – The Union County Sheriff’s Office recently received information that a Union County teacher was sexually involved with a student in 2013.  The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to assist the Union County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.  During the course of the investigation, the GBI was able to determine that former middle school physical education teacher Shawnetta D. Reece, now 40 of Blairsville, was sexually involved with a 15 year old student in 2013.  The student was moving from the 8th grade into the 9th grade during this time.  As a result of the investigation, Reece has been arrested for child molestation and sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority. 

Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be provided to the Enotah Judicial Circuit District Attorney for prosecution.
