Augusta, GA – A registered sex offender from Colorado has been arrested for criminal attempt to commit child molestation. On Saturday, March 11, 2017, Richard Andrew Mennemeyer, 48, of Northglenn, Colorado traveled to Augusta expecting to meet and engage in sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl.  Instead, Mennemeyer was met by law enforcement authorities who had been acting in an undercover role. At approximately 5:00 p.m., Mennemeyer was taken into custody without incident at 2975 Gun Club Road. 

Mennemeyer, who worked as a commercial truck driver, was previously convicted in Colorado in 1999 for Sexual Assault on a Child.  He is being held in the Richmond County jail. 

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s (GBI) Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit was assisted by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation Augusta office, the GBI Thomson office, and the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force. 

The GBI is the host agency for the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children’s (ICAC) Task Force.  The Georgia ICAC Task Force is comprised of over 200 local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, other related criminal justice agencies, and prosecutor’s offices.
