On Wednesday, March 8th, 2017, members of the GBI West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office, GBI Region 1 Calhoun Office, and the Georgia State Patrol Post 38, concluded a six (6) month narcotics investigation resulting in the arrest of Tyson Brown, age 35, and Maverick Brown, age 57.

During the course of the investigation, agents began purchasing marijuana from 117 Jim Lee Drive which is the primary residence of Tyson Brown. Throughout the investigation, numerous investigative acts conducted led agents to a location at 102 King Bee Circle and 301 B Camp Street in Rome, Georgia as well.

As a result of this investigation, search warrants were conducted at all three residences by the GBI West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office, GBI Region 1 Calhoun Office, and the Georgia State Patrol. Approximately 14 pounds of marijuana was discovered along with packaging materials used for distribution. Also discovered was $ 127,868.00 in U.S. Currency along with two firearms.  

Tyson Brown is charged with Distribution of Marijuana and Trafficking in Marijuana.  Maverick Brown is charged with one count of Trafficking in Marijuana. Other charges and arrests are expected as a result of this investigation. Both suspects are currently incarcerated and no bond has been set at the time of this press release.

The GBI West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office was also assisted by the Rome Police Department and the Floyd County District Attorney’s Office.   

The GBI West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office is located in Carrollton, Georgia and services 26 counties. The office is comprised of members from the GBI, Carrollton Police Department, Villa Rica Police Department, Bowden Police Department, Lagrange Police Department, Police Department, Peachtree City Police Department, Fulton County Police Department, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Troup County Sheriff’s Office, and Heard County Sheriff’s Office.
