Update - Clarkesville Mayor Death Investigation
Clarkesville, GA – Following an autopsy that was conducted on December 15, 2015, a GBI Medical Examiner issued a preliminary finding that Mayor Greene died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Further forensic testing will be done before an official autopsy report is issued.
On Sunday, December 13, 2015, the GBI’s Cleveland Regional Office was requested to assist the Clarkesville Police Department with a death investigation of Clarkesville Mayor Dr. James Terry Greene, age 53. The investigation began as a shooting incident that resulted from a reported domestic disturbance at the residence between Mayor Greene and his wife Anne Greene. Greene was transported to the Atlanta Medical Center where he later died.
Greene was taken to the GBI’s Medical Examiner’s Office in Decatur, GA where an autopsy was conducted on December 15th.
This investigation is active and ongoing.
