Jonesboro, GA. – The GBI has been requested by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a shooting incident involving two of their deputies. Preliminary information received is that last night at approximately 9:00 pm at the American Inn & Suites, 6358 Old Dixie Highway, in Jonesboro, two deputies shot a subject described as a black male in his 30s. The subject was transported to Atlanta Medical Center where he is being treated for his injuries. The subject’s name is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin. The deputies were not injured during the incident. When the GBI investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the Clayton County District Attorney for any action deemed appropriate.
