Dearing, GA. – On Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at approximately 4:45 AM, the GBI was requested to assist the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Department with a homicide investigation that occurred at a residence in the 3800 block of Randall Road. At approximately 4:07 AM, deputies with the Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the Randall Road residence in reference to a person being shot. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that Bobbie R. Blackmon, 51 years old, had been shot. Mrs. Blackmon was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center in Augusta where she was pronounced dead. The GBI Region 7 Field Office responded and began conducting an investigation. Danny E. Blackmon Jr., 48 years old, was arrested and charged with Murder, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of Methamphetamine. Mr. Blackmon is currently being detained at the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Detention Center.     

The victim’s body will be transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur, GA where an autopsy will be performed at a later time. The investigation is ongoing.
