Stockbridge, GA – State level law enforcement representatives from nine southeastern states have been meeting in Stockbridge this week to discuss officer involved shooting investigations.  The meeting, which is a working group of representatives of members from the Association of State Criminal Investigative Agencies (ASCIA), is being hosted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites, 638 Highway 138 West in Stockbridge, GA.  The focus of the meeting is to address issues, lessons learned, and best practices state law enforcement agencies use when investigating police use of force incidents, focusing on officer involved shootings.

Representatives from the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Kentucky State Police, Louisiana State Police, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation attended the meeting.

At 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, media will be allowed into the meeting room to obtain B-roll footage.

At 11:30 a.m., Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Vernon Keenan, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Director Mark Gwyn, LaGrange Police Chief Lou Dekmar (International Association of Chiefs of Police Third Vice-President), and Charleston County (SC) Sheriff J. Al Cannon, Jr. will be available to make comments regarding the outcomes of the working group.
