Cairo, GA- On Wednesday, December 4, 2013 the GBI office in Thomasville, GA was requested by the Grady County Sheriff’s office to assist with the investigation into the shooting of FLORINE PHILLIPS, 38.  The shooting took place at 185 Donaldson Lane in Cairo where PHILLIPS was shot once in the abdomen at approximately 10:30 p.m.  PHILLIPS survived the shooting.

The suspect MICHAEL HINES, 26, of 196 Earl Hester Road, Climax was an acquaintance of PHILLIPS.  HINES was located and arrested without incident in Decatur County on Thursday, December 5.    Assisting in the arrest of HINES was the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and the Climax Police Department. 

HINES is charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. HINES is being held in the Grady County Jail.
