Arrest Warrants Obtained in Jackson County for Murder of Cheyanne Hair
Jefferson, GA – As a result of the investigation into the death of Cheyanne Hair, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) have obtained arrest warrants for Jonathan Michael Smith, 34, of 1127 Winder Highway, Jefferson. Smith has been charged with one count of Murder and one count of Feticide. Smith and Ms. Hair moved from Spalding County and were living at the Winder Highway residence when Smith murdered Ms. Hair who was pregnant.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the GBI consulted with Piedmont Judicial Circuit District Attorney Brad Smith regarding the charges on Jonathan Smith. It is anticipated additional charges may be brought against Jonathan Smith in this matter.
Smith is currently in the Jackson County Jail on unrelated charges. In addition to the murder and feticide charges Smith now faces in Jackson County, there is also a hold on him in Spalding County for unrelated charges.
