“Elder Abuse: Hiding in Plain Sight” A Law Enforcement Roll Call Training Video to Be Released
LaGrange, GA –LaGrange Police Chief Lou Dekmar, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Vernon Keenan, and the Georgia Department of Human Services, Division of Aging are pleased to announce the release of a law enforcement roll call training video entitled “Elder Abuse: Hiding in Plain Sight”. The premiere of the video will be held Thursday, August 15, 1:00 PM, at The Active Life, a senior citizen center located at 140 Ragland Street, LaGrange. Residents of The Active Life were used as role players in the production of the video which highlights crimes committed against citizens over the age of 65 and citizens with disabilities who are over the age of 18. The purpose of this 22 minute video is to train law enforcement officers on the key indicators and how to respond to the crimes of physical abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, abandonment, sexual abuse, and trafficking involving these two vulnerable populations. The video will help law enforcement protect victims, prevent future victimization, and bring the perpetrators of these crimes to justice.
Chief Dekmar, Director Keenan, and personnel from the Georgia Department of Human Services, Division of Aging will discuss elder abuse and recognize residents of The Active Life who participated in the production of the video.
