Adel - On Saturday, November 13, 2010, at approximately 5:00 a.m., an inmate at the Cook County Jail collapsed at the jail and was transported to the Adel Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The GBI Douglas office was contacted and requested to assist in the investigation.  

The victim, Lewis Jermaine Pewee of Cook County, was 21 years of age. There was no evidence of any injuries sustained by Mr. Pewee and foul play is not suspected at this time.

An autopsy was conducted on Monday, November 15, 2010, at the GBI Crime Lab and the cause of death is pending further tests. If anyone has information pertaining to the investigation, please contact the Cook County Sheriff's Office at 229-896-7471 or the GBI Douglas Office at 912-389-4103.
