The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office have arrested Casey Allen Spradlin, 25, for the death of two-year-old, Brayden Robinson. Spradlin was charged with Felony Murder, Malice Murder, Cruelty to Children 1st degree and Aggravated Battery. Spradlin was arrested on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Department in Greenville, Ga.

Spradlin’s arrest occurred after an investigation was initiated after emergency services responded to a 911 call at 459 Bethel Church Road, Luthersville, Ga. on September 3, 2010. The 911 call was in regards to a child in respiratory distress as a result of a fall. Upon EMS arrival, they found Robinson unresponsive and transported him to the Newnan Piedmont Hospital in Newnan, Ga.. Robinson was subsequently life-flighted to Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta. Treating medical personnel notified law enforcement regarding suspicious injuries they noted during their evaluation of Robinson. Robinson later died from his injuries.

Investigation revealed that Robinson died from blunt force head trauma not associated with a fall. Spradlin, fiancée of Robinson’s mother, was the sole caretaker of Robinson at the time the trauma was inflicted that contributed to his death.

Spradlin is a Coweta County firefighter currently on military leave. Spradlin is currently in the custody of the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office. No bond has been set at this time.
