Suspect Arrested in Murder of Lt Vogt
At 3:15 PM on February 17, 2010, the Georgia State Patrol SWAT Team and other law enforcement arrested 44-year-old Robert Milam Cook at his residence at 6625 Roosevelt Hwy, Fairburn, GA. Cook has been charged with the murder of Lt. Mike Vogt.
The tip that lead to the arrest came into the GBI Communications Center last night as a result of media reports of the incident. GBI Agents and investigators followed up with the tipster and developed enough supportive information to obtain a warrant charging Cook with murder.
After Cook was interviewed by GBI Agents, he was transported to the Fulton County Jail.
The Firearms Section of the GBI Crime Lab has determined that the assault rifle found today at the residence of Robert Cook has matched the shell casings found at the scene of the murder of Lt Vogt. The Firearms Section also determined that the rifle had been modified so it had the capability of firing in fully automatic mode. (as well as semi-automatic mode).
This effort today involved numerous State, Federal, and local law enforcement agencies. We are grateful for the tremendous support provided by all agencies involved and by the entire Chattahoochee Hills Community.
