Decatur – A 33-year-old Newnan man was arrested last night by GBI agents for threatening a GBI crime lab scientist. George Thomas Lawrence of 257 Kelley Farm Road in Newnan has been charged with Terroristic Threats.

Lawrence had threatened the scientist during a telephone conversation around 1:30pm yesterday and was in custody by 7:30pm. He was arrested at the Fairburn Police Department and taken to the DeKalb County Jail.

GBI Director Vernon Keenan stated, “We will not tolerate threats to GBI employees or to any government officials for carrying out their duties and responsibilities.  As in this case, the GBI will take immediate action to identify and arrest anyone who makes such threats.”
