CARTERSVILLE -   As result of a search warrant executed today by GBI Agents and the Bartow County Sheriff's Office at a residence in Cartersville, a 38-year-old man has been charged with three counts of possession of child pornography. 

James Dustin Barnette was arrested at his home on Highland Drive in Cartersville after agents discovered numerous images and movie files of suspected child pornography on his computer.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), which is part of the GBI's High Technology Unit, received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding Barnette's possible involvement in sharing suspected child pornography over the Internet. Barnette, a former law enforcement officer, was taken to the Bartow County Jail.   Additional charges are pending a forensic analysis of his computer by the GBI's High Technology Unit.
