MURDER ARREST MADE IN WARE COUNTY HOMICIDE
WAYCROSS-The Ware County Sheriff’s office and GBI have arrested John Darwin Swain Jr., of Waycross, Ga., 27 YOA, for the murder of Charlie Calaway Johnson. Swain is charged with Malice murder, financial card fraud, theft by taking, and probation violation.
On Saturday, September 27, 2008, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Ware County Deputies were called to the residence of Charlie Calaway Johnson located on Prescott Street, in Waycross, Ware County Ga. Mr. Johnson, 61 YOA, was discovered deceased and the GBI Douglas office was requested to assist in the investigation.
The victim lived alone and was found in his residence by a neighbor. Mr. Johnson and Swain were acquaintances and knew each other. The cause of death is still under investigation pending autopsy results and further investigation by Ware S.O. and GBI.
