Drug Arrests Made in Habersham County
Habersham County, GA (March 9, 2019) – On March 7, 2019, the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, Demorest Police Department, and Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office concluded a six-month undercover drug investigation after executing a search warrant at 617 Golf Course Road, Demorest, GA. Authorities seized 8 ounces of methamphetamine from Jasper Jerry Carlan during this investigation along with $1,300 U.S. Currency. Carlan said he had been selling methamphetamine for 20 years and had never previously been caught. Robin Early May was arrested because he helped Carlan distribute methamphetamine to customers. Keith Lamar Pitts was a customer of Carlan’s. Pitts brought a gram of methamphetamine to Carlan’s house as authorities were searching. The street value of the illegal drugs seized during this investigation is $24,000.
Carlan, May, and Pitts were all arrested at Carlan’s residence. Jasper Jerry Carlan, 78, was arrested for trafficking methamphetamine, sale of methamphetamine, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Robin Early May, 55, of Cornelia, GA was arrested for trafficking methamphetamine and sale of methamphetamine. Keith Lamar Pitts, 52, of Mount Airy, GA was arrested for possession of methamphetamine. All three were transported to the Habersham County Detention Center.
