GBI Conducts Death Investigation in Dade County - UPDATE - ARREST MADE

ARREST MADE IN THE DEATH INVESTIGATION OF JUSTIN ALFREY
Fort Payne, AL (December 21, 2018) - On Friday, December 21, 2018, at approximately 7:15 am, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office (Alabama) Special Response Team, Alabama State Bureau of Investigation, Dade County Sheriff’s Office, and GBI executed an arrest and search warrant on the residence of Sam Street, at 47989 US Highway 11 in Valley Head, AL. Street was taken into custody for the murder of Justin Alfrey. Alfrey was murdered in Rising Fawn, Dade County, GA on Saturday, December 15, 2018. Street was arrested for murder, aggravated assault, and possession of firearm during commission of a felony and was transported to the DeKalb County Jail in Fort Payne, AL.

Rising Fawn, GA (December 17, 2018) – On Saturday, December 15, 2018, at approximately 12:30 am, the GBI was requested by the Dade County Sheriff’s Office to assist in a death investigation in Rising Fawn, Dade County, GA. A male subject identified as Justin Alfrey, 32, of Valley Head, Alabama, was found shot to death in his vehicle at 106 Highway 11, Rising Fawn, GA. Witnesses near the scene describe a Chevrolet truck leaving the area close to where the victim was found. GBI processed the crime scene for evidence and took tire impressions. The autopsy of Alfrey is being conducted at the GBI Medical Examiner’s office on Monday, December 17.
The GBI and Dade County Investigators are continuing to follow leads at this time. Authorities are asking the public to contact the Dade County Sheriff’s Office at 706-657-3233 or the GBI at 706-624-1424 if they have any information related to Alfrey’s death.
