GBI Makes Additional Arrest in August 2018 Toccoa Murder Investigation
Toccoa, GA (October 26, 2018) – On Friday, October 26, 2018, the August 2018 murder investigation of Joel Keshon Green, 18, was presented to a Stephens County Grand Jury. As a result of the presentation, warrants were issued for Demetrius Sanchez Smith, 29, of Toccoa, Georgia. Smith was subsequently arrested on those charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Smith was arrested Friday without incident and will be booked into the Stephens County Detention Center. Kentavius Broudmain Walker, 21, of Toccoa and Ty’Jai Trammel, 23, of Toccoa were indicted on the original charges from their arrests on August 9, 2018 of malice murder and felony murder, and the additional charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Walker was also charged with aggravated assault in connection to a separate July 26, 2018 shooting in Toccoa on August 9th.
On Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at approximately 1:40 PM, the GBI was requested to assist the Toccoa Police Department with a shooting in Toccoa, Stephens County, Georgia. The Toccoa Police Department responded to a man shot call in the area of 154 S. Alexander Street at approximately 1:30 PM. Joel Keshon Green died as a result of the shooting.
Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be provided to the Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney for prosecution.
