Cairo, Georgia (August 10, 2018) – On Thursday, August 9, 2018, about 4:20 pm, the GBI was requested to assist the Cairo Police Department with the death investigation of Willie Bell who was located in the yard of his residence in the 600 block of 15th Street SW in Cairo, Georgia. 

Upon further investigation, it was determined that Bell had been shot.  This case is being investigated as a homicide at this time and no arrests have been made. Bell’s body was sent to the GBI Crime lab where an autopsy was performed.  Agents and Cairo Police are in the area continuing to identify and interview witnesses and collect evidence.  This case is active and ongoing.  Anyone with information is urged to call GBI Thomasville at 229-225-4090 or the Cairo Police Department at 229-378-3096.
