Dawson, GA – On Tuesday, March 6, 2018, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was requested by the Dawson Police Department to investigate a homicide.

At approximately 1:50 a.m., the Dawson Police Department was dispatched to the home of Leroy Weston, age 70, located at 638 Pecan Street.  EMS had previously been called to the house for medical assistance and when they arrived they found Weston dead. An autopsy will be performed at the GBI Crime Lab in Macon.

The investigation determined that Jaquan Donate Weston, 27, of Leesburg, was responsible for Leroy Weston’s death.  Leroy Weston is Jaquan’s father.

Law enforcement began searching for Jaquan Weston and when located, he ran from officers. Jaquan Weston was captured in the 700 block of Lemon Street.  When he was found, Jaquan Weston had what appeared to be self-inflicted cuts.  He was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital where he remains in critical condition. Jaquan Weston is charged with malice murder.
