Two Arrested in the Murder of Michael Haegele
BUENA VISTA, GA – As result of the investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Macon County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, two people have been charged with murder in the death of 21-year-old Michael Haegele. Charged were Jason Slaughter, 23, and Donna Slaughter, 30, both of 23 Palm Drive in Mauk, Georgia.
The investigation revealed the murder occurred on Thursday, May 6th with the body being discovered on May 7th. The investigation also revealed that the location of the murder was the Slaughter/Haegele residence which is located in Marion County. The body was disposed of by the Slaughters in Macon County which is approximately 30 miles from the residence. Haegele died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head.
Jason Slaughter was the person who contacted the GBI on May 12 to report that Michael Haegele had not been heard from since May 1. Haegele had been living with the Slaughters since coming to Georgia a little over a year ago.
The Slaughters are in custody at the Marion County Jail.
