GBI Investigates Death in Screven County
Sylvania, GA – On Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at approximately 3:16 PM, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) responded to the scene of a house fire involving a death at the request of the Screven County Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at approximately 12:27 PM, a 911 call was received in reference to a house fire at 5749 Statesboro Highway, Sylvania, GA. The Screven County Fire Department and Screven County Deputies were dispatched to the scene. Upon entry into the structure, firemen discovered a female victim inside the residence. The victim, who has been identified as 56 year-old Lisa Scott, was pronounced dead at the scene. Scott’s death is being investigated as a homicide. The cause of Scott’s death and the fire are currently under investigation.
