GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Glynn County
Brunswick, GA – On Tuesday afternoon, October 24, 2017, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Kingsland office, was requested by the Glynn County Police Department to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred behind the Kayak Exxon Gas Station located at 95 Nascar Boulevard, Brunswick, Georgia.
At approximately 3:54 pm, Glynn County Patrol Officer David Sepanski initiated a traffic stop on US Hwy 17S. The suspect vehicle turned into the Kayak Exxon Gas Station where the occupant, identified as Kenneth Brandon Williams, 34 years of age, jumped out of the vehicle and fled into the wooded area behind the station. Officer Sepanski pursued Williams on foot. Upon making contact with Williams, Officer Sepanski deployed his taser at which time Williams displayed a handgun. Officer Sepanski then drew his handgun and shot Williams multiple times.
Williams was life-flighted to Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida where he is listed in good condition. Williams has been arrested for aggravated assault against a peace officer (felony), possession of firearm by convicted felon (felony), and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute (felony).
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation to determine what occurred. Once the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the Brunswick Judicial District Attorney’s Office for review.
