Chickamauga, GA— On Saturday, May 06, 2017, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was requested by the Chickamauga Police Department to conduct a death investigation.

At 11:54 a.m., the Chickamauga Police Department received a 911 call that a person had been shot in the chest at 1009 Hood Avenue. Upon arrival, officers identified the victim as Lance Wooten, age 30. Wooten was pronounced dead at the scene.  An autopsy will be performed at the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur.

The father of the victim, Pat Wooten, 58, has been charged with one count of malice murder and is being held at the Catoosa County Jail. Pat Wooten was a former Chickamauga police officer and currently employed as a Walker County detention officer.  Pat Wooten lived at the residence on Hood Avenue.
