Decatur, GA - The GBI’s newly formed Human Trafficking Unit (HTU) and the Sandy Springs Police Department assisted the U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement/Department of Homeland Security in arresting Carl Fredrik Skow of Norcross for one count of violation of 18USC1591, sex trafficking of a child.

The arrest on federal charges was the culmination of an approximately 2 month investigation by ICE, HTU and Sandy Springs Police in which Skow had made arrangements to purchase an underage girl to have in his possession for a year.

Skow, 33, who resided at 502 Olde Mill Lane in Norcross, is an engineer at Cox Enterprises.

HTU began operation July 1 to combat the crimes of child sex trafficking and human trafficking in Georgia. This unit’s enforcement efforts are being aided by a U. S. Department of Justice grant and by legislation passed this year by the Georgia General Assembly and signed into law by Governor Deal to strengthen Georgia’s human trafficking laws. This legislation, House Bill 200 sponsored by State Representative Edward Lindsey, also gave the GBI original jurisdiction to investigate crimes related to child sex trafficking.
