GBI Arrests Former State Probation Officer in Rome, GA
Rome, Georgia – A former Georgia Department of Corrections Probation Officer has been arrested on criminal charges involving sexual assault on probationers. Anyoel Cordovi, 29, of Calhoun, was arrested Tuesday, January 17, 2017 on two felony counts of sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority and one felony count of violation of oath of office.
In August 2016, the Georgia Department of Corrections requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) conduct an investigation after allegations of sexual contact were made by probationers Cordovi previously supervised. The acts occurred in 2015, prior to Cordovi’s resignation in July of the same year.
Cordovi was arrested without incident in Canton before being transported to the Floyd County Jail.
Anyone with information concerning the case is asked to call the GBI Calhoun office at 706-624-1424. When the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the Floyd County District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
