Broxton- The GBI Crime Lab has identified the body found last week in a Coffee County cotton field as Tina Davis of Coffee County, W/F, 42 years of age. An autopsy has been conducted but the cause of death has not been determined yet and is pending toxicology and additional tests.

On Thursday, October 29, 2009, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office was contacted at approximately 10:11 a.m., in reference to a farmer finding a body in his cotton field located off a dirt road on 441 north of Broxton. The Coffee County S.O. requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Douglas Office. The farmer was working in his cotton field when he came across the body.  The body appeared to have been in the field for an extended period of time.

The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office advised that Ms. Davis had escaped from a Deputy on 10-9-09. Ms. Davis’ vehicle was recovered later that day and a search for Ms. Davis by the Sheriff’s Office met with negative results.

The investigation is still on-going; therefore no other details will be released at this time. If anyone has information pertaining to the investigation, please contact the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office at 912-384-4227 or the GBI Douglas Office at 912-389-4103.
