Arrests Made in Alma, GA Homicide Investigation
Alma, GA— On Saturday, June 18, 2016, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Douglas Regional Office was requested by the Alma Police Department to assist in a homicide investigation that resulted in the death of Tony Overstreet, Jr, 30.
On Friday, June 17, 2016 at approximately 10:30 pm officers with the Alma Police Department responded to East 11th Street and North Ware Street in Alma, Georgia in reference to a report of shots being fired and an abandoned car. Upon arrival, officers found a rental vehicle that had been left in the intersection of East 11th and North Ware St. The driver of the vehicle was not located by officers. Due to the condition of the vehicle, officers secured it and took it into police custody.
On Saturday, June 18, 2016 at approximately 9:00 am, the body of Tony Overstreet, Jr was located by a family member near the intersection of East 11th Street and North Ware Street. Overstreet, Jr was pronounced dead at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds. Overstreet’s body was taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy.
On Wednesday, June 22, 2016 GBI agents and Alma police investigators obtained arrest warrants for the following individuals in the death Tony Overstreet, Jr.:
Pierre Alston, 24 was charged with one (1) count of Felony Murder, (1) count of Armed Robbery, and (1) count of Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Alston is currently being held in the Bacon County Jail. Jerome Maxwell, 20 was charged with one (1) count of Felony Murder, (1) count of Armed Robbery, and (1) count of Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Maxwell is being held in the Ware County Jail. Keitric McCaskey, 21 was charged with one (1) count of Felony Murder, (1) count of Armed Robbery, and (1) count of Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. McCaskey is still at large.
Lataysha Morgan, 20 was charged with one (1) count of False statements and writings; concealment of facts. Morgan was transported to the Bacon County Jail. Nyiesha Nails, 20 was charged with one (1) count of False statements and writings; concealment of facts. Nails was transported to the Bacon County Jail.
