Clarkesville, GA - On Sunday, December 13, 2015, the GBI’s Cleveland Regional Office was requested to assist the Clarkesville Police Department with a death investigation of Clarkesville Mayor Dr. James Terry Greene, age 53.  The investigation began as a shooting incident that resulted from a reported domestic disturbance at the residence between Mayor Greene and his wife Anne Greene.  Greene was transported to the Atlanta Medical Center where he later died.

Greene was taken to the GBI’s Medical Examiner’s Office in Decatur, GA where an autopsy is scheduled to be conducted on December 15th.

This investigation is active and ongoing.  As a result, no additional details are available for release.
