Woodstock, GA. – On Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at approximately 11:45 PM, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Cleveland Office was requested by the Woodstock Police Department to conduct an investigation into an officer involved shooting.  The incident occurred in the 1300 block of Yorkshire Lane in Woodstock, Georgia.  It is standard protocol for the Woodstock Police Department to request the Georgia Bureau of Investigation conduct an independent investigation. 

At approximately 11:18 PM, Cherokee County E911 received calls indicating a gun was fired in the area of Yorkshire Lane.  Woodstock Police Officers were dispatched to an unknown trouble call with screaming and a shot fired at a residence in the 1300 block.  Upon arrival, officers located and made contact with a subject with a gun at 1343Yorkshire Lane.  Verbal commands to drop the weapon were given by officers.  The subject did not comply resulting in the shooting incident. 

The subject was identified as Jeremy Simpson, 22, of Woodstock, Georgia.  Simpson was transported to Kennestone Hospital for treatment and was released.  Simpson is being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center and will be charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a police officer.

No officers were injured during the incident.  The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave.  

Upon completion of the investigation, it will be provided to the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
