Dalton, GA – On July 28, 2015, the Calhoun Regional GBI Office was requested by Whitfield County Sheriff Scott Chitwood to investigate an allegation of child molestation against Whitfield County Animal Control officer Kelly Cox, age 33.  The investigation involved the GBI, the Whitfield County Department of Family and Children’s Services, and the Children’s Advocacy Center. After completion of the investigation, the findings were presented to the Whitfield County District Attorney’s Office and warrants were issued for the arrest of Kelly Cox.  On August 26, 2015, Cox was arrested and charged with one count of child molestation and booked into the Whitfield County jail. Cox resigned from his position with Whitfield County during the course of the investigation.
