Blairsville, GA - Two bodies were found inside a residence at 903 Highway 325 in Blairsville on Monday, March 16.  The bodies, which appeared to have been shot, were discovered after the Union County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Dayton (TN) Police Department.  Dayton PD was contacted by the Rhea Medical Center after Cody Lee Vestal, 35, was admitted.  At the medical center, Dayton officers discovered Vestal was driving a vehicle registered at the Highway 325 address.  Inside the vehicle, officers observed a firearm.   

Two arrest warrants for Murder have been secured for Vestal.  Vestal, who was transferred to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, has been placed under arrest and is under guard at the hospital.

The identity of the victims is being withheld until next of kin notification can be made.  Both bodies of have been transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta where autopsies will be done on Wednesday.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI assist with the death investigation.  When the investigation is complete, the results will be turned over to the district attorney.
