Brunswick, GA (October 9, 2026) – The GBI has arrested and charged Willie Gray, age 46, of Memphis, Tennessee, with two counts of Robbery, one count of Aggravated Battery, one count of Exploitation of an Elderly Adult, one count of misdemeanor Obstruction of Law Enforcement, and one count of Providing a False Name.

On Monday, September 14, 2026, the Brunswick Police Department (BPD) requested the GBI to investigate a robbery at the Dollar General located at 2915 Norwich Street in Brunswick. During that incident, a man stole cash from the register and assaulted an elderly man. On Saturday, September 19, 2026, the Dollar General at 2701 J Street in Brunswick was robbed by the same man in a similar manner. During this incident, cash was taken from the register, but no one was hurt. On Thursday, September 24, 2026, a man matching the same description as the man from the Dollar General robberies stole someone’s purse outside of Roses’ at 1919 Glynn Avenue in Brunswick. No one was injured and the purse was later recovered. Following this incident, bystanders directed BPD officers to a vacant commercial property, where the man, later identified as Gray, was hiding on the roof. Gray was taken into custody without incident by the Brunswick Police Department with the assistance of the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office and Glynn County Police Department.

On September 24, 2026, Gray was booked into the Glynn County Jail.
