Valdosta, GA (October 8, 2026) - The GBI is investigating the death of a Valdosta Police Department officer. The Valdosta Police Department (VPD) requested the GBI to investigate.

On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at about 12:30 p.m., a man was discovered deceased inside the Valdosta Municipal Court Complex located at 100 Oak Street, Valdosta, GA. During the investigation, agents identified the man as a VPD officer.

The officer’s body will be taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted.
