GBI Arrests Milledgeville Couple in a Theft Investigation
Milledgeville, Baldwin County, GA (September 4, 2026) – The GBI has arrested and charged Kimberley Kerchelle Simmons, age 52, of Milledgeville, GA, with Theft by Taking and False Statements, and her husband, Eric Geroy Simmons, age 58, of Milledgeville, Georgia, with Theft by Taking. Kimberley Simmons is the former Greene County Board of Education Director of Special Education.
On Friday, July 24, 2026, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to investigate allegations that Kimberley Simmons stole funds from the Greene County Board of Education. Preliminary information indicates that both Kimberley and Eric Simmons were involved in the theft of approximately $50,000 of grant funds.
Kimberley Simmons resigned from the Greene County Board of Education on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
Both Kimberley and Eric Simmons were booked into the Greene County Jail.
