GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in South Fulton, GA
South Fulton, GA (September 2, 2026) - At the request of the South Fulton Police Department (SFPD), GBI agents are investigating an officer involved shooting in South Fulton, GA. One man died in the incident. No officers were injured.
Preliminary information indicates that on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., SFPD officers responded to a home in the 3300 block of Flat Shoals Road in South Fulton, GA, in response to a 911 call regarding an argument involving a suicidal man with a gun. As officers arrived on scene, they met with a woman, who told officers she had been shot by her husband. As officers were rendering aid to the woman, a man exited the home and began shooting at the officers. Officers returned fire, and the man retreated into the home. SFPD SWAT was activated as responding officers secured the scene. Once SWAT arrived, they cleared the home and located the man with an apparent gunshot wound. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The man’s body will be taken to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted.
