GBI Arrests Former Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Major on Multiple Charges
Augusta, Richmond County, GA (September 1, 2026) - The GBI has arrested and charged Robert “Robbie” W. Silas, age 59, of Hephzibah, Georgia, with one felony count of Pandering, one misdemeanor count of Solicitation of Sodomy, and one felony count of Violation of Oath of Office. Silas is a former major with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
On August 28, 2026, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI to investigate allegations that Silas solicited sodomy and prostitution in the Augusta, GA area. The investigation began after the Federal Bureau of Investigation received a tip concerning Silas and the illegal activity.
Silas was arrested on August 31, 2026, at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. Silas was booked into the Richmond County Jail.
The FBI Augusta Resident Agency assisted with the investigation.
