GBI Investigates Use of Force Incident in Walton County

Walton County, GA (March 6, 2026) - At the request of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), GBI agents are investigating a use of force incident in Walton County, GA.

Preliminary information indicates on March 4, 2026 at about 7:30 p.m., WCSO was located at a home off Carriage Court in Walton County conducting a criminal investigation. Deputies were inside the home with the suspect when he grabbed a kitchen knife. One deputy then tased the suspect, who fell to the ground. Before deputies could get the knife away from the individual, the suspect injured himself. Deputies rendered aid to the suspect until emergency medical personnel arrived.

The suspect was taken to a local area hospital for treatment.

One deputy was injured trying to secure the knife from the subject.

The investigation is active and ongoing. Once complete, the case file will be given to the Alcovy Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
