GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in DeKalb County
DeKalb County, GA (November 21, 2025) - At the request of the DeKalb County Police Department, GBI Agents are investigating an officer involved shooting in DeKalb County, GA. One woman was shot and injured. One officer was shot in the vest during the incident.
Preliminary information indicates that, at about 5:34 a.m. on November 21, 2025, DeKalb County 911 received a call from a woman claiming to be held against her will at a home on Errol Drive in Lithonia, GA, and that children were present in the home. As officers arrived on scene, they were notified via radio of a “person shot.” Officers were unable to get anyone to come to the door. Officers made entry into the home and found a woman armed with a handgun. Officers gave the woman commands to drop the gun and she did not comply. The woman then shot at the officers, hitting one officer in the vest. Another officer shot the woman. Officers then searched the home and found one elderly woman and one man inside the home, who were identified as the homeowners, but no children were located on the scene.
The man and woman found in the home were not injured.
The woman who exchanged gunfire with the officers was taken to an area hospital for treatment and is in stable condition. The officer who was shot did not require medical treatment.
Once the investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office for review.
