GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in East Point
East Point, GA (March 9, 2025) – At the request of the East Point Police Department, GBI agents are investigating an officer involved shooting that happened on Saturday in East Point, Georgia. Trauneycia Langley, age 27, of East Point, was injured in the incident. No officers were injured in the incident.
The preliminary information indicates on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at about 5:00 p.m, East Point Police Department officers responded to the 2400 block of Stone Road in East Point in reference to a person expressing suicidal thoughts. Once officers were on scene, they made contact with the woman identified as Trauneycia Langley. Langley was in distress and expressed wanting to harm herself. Officers negotiated with Langley and attempted to have her voluntarily submit to a mental evaluation. Langley became increasingly agitated and combative towards the officers. One of the officers deployed her Taser which was ineffective. Langley grabbed a knife and charged towards the officer. The officer fired her handgun, hitting Langley. Officers provided aid to Langley and had her taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The GBI will conduct an independent investigation. Once complete, the case file will be given to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for review.
