Levarius Ke’Shay Madrad Ates, age 17, of Eastman, died as a result of his injuries on July 29, 2024. No arrests have been made. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Hawkinsville, GA (July 29, 2024) – At the request of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, GBI agents are investigating a shooting in Hawkinsville, GA, that left a 17-year-old from Eastman injured.

On Sunday, July 28, 2024, at about 1:15 a.m., deputies with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies were dispatched to MLK Jr. Blvd., in reference to a shooting that occurred. When deputies arrived, they discovered the 17-year-old suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries and remains in critical condition.

During the preliminary investigation, investigators determined that there was a block party where the shooting occurred with an extremely large crowd present.
